Jon didn’t make the web, but he did make it look better.

Jon Norris, Director of Design & Marketing

I’m not perfect. I’m just a perfectionist.

After spending the first 22 years of his life in Mississippi, Jon made his escape from the deep South and ended up in Raleigh, NC. He barely survived his first year teaching at the aptly-named Carnage Middle School, so he decided to combine his long-time love of art with his aptitude for computers. He quickly landed a job doing web design and marketing at Dialog, a Thomson business, where he found himself working alongside future OnWired founder Tony Chester.

Fast forward a few years. Dialog was going through big changes and Tony had already moved on to start OnWired. In 2005, Jon got a pink slip of his own and jumped to a Durham-based start-up. Again, Jon was tasked with web design and marketing, but this time, he was able to get his hands dirty with email marketing and a high-dollar pay-per-click campaign too. After a year of fun and games at the start-up, Jon decided that it was time to do his own thing — and stop making that 90 minute commute (each way) every day.

Now we come full circle. Tony had been bugging Jon off and on for a couple years about teaming up, but the time had never been right — until the fall of 2006. After a fateful meeting one night at Tony’s favorite coffee shop, Jon joined the OnWired team and never looked back.
