Alex Gandy, Web Developer
Born in Monterrey, California, Alex is an Army brat. He spent the first twelve years of his life bouncing from place to place, enjoying such exotic locales as Panama and Germany. He finally landed in northern Virginia in time to begin his high school career, where he learned the joys of object oriented programming. Alex soon headed off to Christopher Newport University, where he decided that computers were for dorks. He switched to a Psychology/Philosophy program as he proceeded to explore the cosmos and fight for justice and freedom wherever there was trouble.
At some point during his college years, Alex rediscovered his love for programming. He dove headfirst into web development, starting with PHP/MySQL and stopping only when he had learned far too much about data modeling and visualization. After graduation, he joined a team of data management nerds and discovered his love for creative and poignant data visualization. Alex also developed a bit of a complex about naming standards and meta-information. After a brief stint at a non-profit, he packed his bags, left Washington DC, and headed south to join the OnWired crew.
One day, Alex is going to write a pretentious philosophical work regarding man’s need to create pointless information to feel better about not being able to truly communicate. In the meantime though, he’s just trying to avoid getting caught on camera again by one of Google’s roving voyeurs.
